In Memory

James Cuevas

Jim passed away early morning on Tuesday, February 10th at his home in Calumet City IL, after years of serious health problems. He was loved and cared for by his amazing wife, Delores and is survived by sons Daniel and Edward and daughter Laura. He has been my best friend since the age of 9. A short list of his accomplishments are as follows: Best and most loyal friend in the world, keeper of all childhood 'secrets' since 1963, most likely to discuss History, Geography and Business at the conclusion of any 'street' or backyard football, holder of most pass receptions records (1964-1970) on 86th-87th Houston Ave, 1st person to work before the age of 10 (paper boy, grocery store, etc), most likely to pick the opposite sports team favored by me (Examples: Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Bruins), most likely to give you everything he had if he thought you needed anything, CEO of the 'let's teach Rich how to speak fluent Spanish' Corporation since 1964 (his only 'failure'), 1st friend to own/drive a car, Tour Guide of the famous Spring BreakTrip of 1976, organizer of the best Bachelor Party ever, best Best Man, most respectful of other people's Parents, official entry into the Gamboa family and 'Blood Brother' since 1964, most likely to ask and care about my family's health while he battled Cancer, proud and faithful Husband to Delores and parent and Father to Daniel, Edward and Laura Marie. He was the best and made me understand what true and lasting friendship is. We talked and laughed about our life and times together until the very end. Rest in Peace ''Jimmy Cuevas'. Almost forgot, 'Packers Suck!' Love, Rich Gamboa

While I don't remember Jim, I got a sense of who he was as a boy and who he was a man.

The loving tribute by Rich Gamboa painted a picture of a life well lived.

My condolences to Jim's family.
